11's remain unbeaten

Cavan Celtic 2-2 Carrick Rovers

On Sunday 10th November the 11's travelled to Cavan to take on league leader's Cavan Celtic in what turned out to be a very entertaining match. After a hard fought win in Ballyjamesduff the previous week, where the Rovers showed great character to come back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 with goals from Dylan, Flynn, and a late winner by Keith, these young lads were up for the challenge.
At 3:30 Cavan Celtic kicked off and were on the front foot from the off, it wasn't long before Luke was called into action in the net's on one occasion and coming off his line on another. Keith, Conor and Andrew at the back were under pressure but dealing with everything Celtic were throwing at them and Rovers started to get a foothold at midfield with good work by Cormac, Nathan, Pavel and Flynn. It was end to end at this stage and Rovers had a warning when Cavan hit the post but on 15 minutes Cavan made the breakthrough.

They broke through from midfield to hit the post again but unfortunately for the Rovers they put away the rebound. Mark and Zach were now in the game for Carrick and on 19 minutes Zach found Dylan with a great pass and Dylan finished well to make it 1-1. Rovers were now on top and on 23 minutes Flynn made some space for himself to shoot low to the corner of the net to make it 2-1 to the Rovers. It was even Steven's after that until the half time whistle.
The second half kicked off, and Cavan were pushing hard but the Rovers were more than holding their own. Conor and Niall were now on the pitch and playing their part. However midway through the half Cavan broke through for
Luke to make a great save but again Cavan reacted quickest and put away the rebound. The Rovers dug deep again and had 3 good chances to take all 3 points, but it wasn't to be. This was a good performance from the Rovers with everyone playing their part. For the second week running they showed great spirit to come from behind and were very unlucky not to win. Next weekend sees the visit of Ballyhaise, another unbeaten side in the league.
