11's in to Cup Final

Cavan Celtic 0-1 Carrick Rovers
CMUL 11 Cup Semi-Final

Carrick Rovers travelled to Cavan on Sunday 9th March to play Cavan Celtic in the cup semi-final. The reward for the winners is a cup final date in Sherlock Park with Cootehill who comprehensively beat Ballyhaise 6-0 in the other semi-final. Rovers kicked off and Zach went on the attack from the start, but Cavan defended well. It was end to end in the early stages and the first good chance fell to the Rovers when Mark played Oran in one on one on the keeper and the keeper saved well.

Cavan were passing the ball well and Keith and Andrew both made timely interceptions to keep Cavan out. Cavan were working hard and when Rovers lost possession high up the pitch, Cavan broke at pace to create a good chance which Dylan saved at full stretch. Dylan was doing a good job in the nets replacing Luke who picked up an injury during the week. Defence's were on top and neither team could find a way through in the first half.

Half-time: Cavan Celtic 0-0 Carrick Rovers

Rovers started the second-half on the front foot and were starting to look dangerous. Cormac was enjoying plenty of possession on the wing and Conor was looking sharp up front. Pavel came in as Nathan pushed further up the pitch. Midway through the half, the Rovers got their reward when Flynn got on the end of a cross with a great first touch and finished well from 10 yard's. Cavan went looking for an equaliser and Conor headed out for a corner. Rovers cleared and now looked like adding a second. Niall was brought in as the Rovers looked to close out the game. It was an exciting end to the match but Cavan could not find a way through. Rovers were not at their best but will be delighted with a clean sheet and a place in the cup final.
