11's win with first clean sheet of the season

Carrick Rovers 1-0 Ballyjamesduff
CMUL 11

On Sunday 8th December the 11s played Ballyjamesduff on the Ballybay Road and kept their first clean sheet of the season to win by the only goal. It was a game which the Rovers could have won comfortably but in the end were glad to hear the final whistle. Rovers started the more positive and were pushing their opponents back from the first whistle. Cormac, Flynn, Zach and Oran were pushing the Rovers forward at every opportunity and all had good chances to put the home side ahead.

Luke was rarely troubled in the nets with Keith, Nathan, Andrew and Pavel providing a good shield. Conor's movement up front was creating problem's for the visitor's and despite dominating the first half the Rovers had to wait until five minutes before the break to go ahead. Cormac floated a corner into the box which the keeper pushed out to Nathan who made no mistake shooting into the roof of the net.

Half-time: Carrick Rovers 1-0 Ballyjamesduff

The second half was a different story with the visitors starting on the front foot. Rovers rode their luck early on and Luke saved well. A few minutes later Ballyjamesduff went close again and were well on top now but the Rovers were looking very dangerous on the break. Mark and Nyle were introduced and the home side had some good chances to finish off the game. Great credit must go to Ballyjamesduff on their workrate and effort in the second half. In a game of "two halves" Carrick were relieved to hear the final whistle. Carrick played some lovely football in the first half but failed to hold their shape and struggled in the second. However these young lads deserve great credit for grinding out another good result and remain unbeaten as Christmas approaches.
