13's gain first win of the season

Blayney Rovers 2-3 Carrick Rovers
CMUL 13 Premier

Carrick Rovers 13's CMUL Premier side recorded their 1st victory of the season on Saturday afternoon when they overcame the tough resistance of our neighbours Blayney Rovers on the Astro in Monaghan. Carrick started sharply and should have been 1 up after 6 minutes when Robert McCloskey won possession and slide Tadg Callaghan in behind the Blayney defence but his angled shot across the keeper just missed the far post. Rovers settled well and the midfield trio of McCloskey, Jared Wenham and Dillon Carolan were pressing the Blayney defence into giving up possession and with Dylan McCahey and Bendera on the wings they had a great out ball. Blayney began to grow into the game and the Carrick defence of Cathal O'Rourke, Cian Maher, Liam Og Murray and Eoghan Duffy had their work cut out to keep the pacy Blayney forwards at bay.

But this young Carrick side are learning their trade well, while not having much luck, and they were determined to put up a good show. Rovers started well with a strong backline of Cathal O’Rourke, Liam Og Murray, Tiernan McCourt and Eoghan Duffy, with Killian McNulty between the posts.

Monaghan Utd 3-1 Carrick Rovers
CMUL 13
Carrick Rovers 13's travelled to the other side of the County on Saturday afternoon, to play Monaghan Utd. Rovers were short a good few players and had to call up a couple of U12's to make up a team. This aside they started the game brightly and pressed the hosts early on. Jared Wenham, Robert McCloskey and Luke Hand in the middle of the field for Rovers were working well as a team and were creating chances for Benderas, Dylan Carolan and Dylan McCahey up front. The back line of Cathal O'Rourke, Ciaran Guinan, Tiernan McCourt and Eoghan Duffy were protecting young Larry McCloskey in the Carrick goals as best they could and when Larry was called into action he dealt with everything that was thrown at him.

Rovers 13's gain 1st point

Carrick Rovers 2-2 Blayney Rovers
CMUL 13 Premier
Carrick Rovers 13's welcomed neighbours Blayney Rovers to the Convent Lands on Saturday morning. Played on a great playing surface both these young sides tried to play good attractive, flowing football. Carrick had the better of the opening exchanges with some neat football. The back line of Cathal O'Rourke, Ciaran Guinan, Jared Wenham and Tadg Callaghan were giving good protection to Killian McNulty in the home goals. The midfield of Eoghan Duffy, Jamie King, Liam Og Murray, Tiernan McCourt and Dylan McCahey, were causing the visitors lots of problems with their clever interplay and they were linking up well with the impressive Dillon Carolan upfront. After some good approach work involving O'Rourke and Duffy the ball ended up with King. The clever midfielder slotted a terrific, defence splitting pass to Carolan but the Blayney keeper was off his line like a flash to smother the danger.
