Carrick Under 16 Match Report

An early start was required this week, a long trip to Gweedore in the SFAI semi final u16 and due to injuries and absent players we were down to a minimum squad; however the lads were up for this after the disappointment of gifting Bailieboro 3points the previous week,it was very windy to say the least.  Carrick from the off never let Gweedore settle and soon started to cause them trouble, Darragh Alfred was turning their defence inside out both on the left and right, Jack Slavin and Joe kirk bossed the middle with some ferocious tackles and  as usual Darragh O'Callaghan was every were and followed their number 10 all over the pitch. Carrick captain, Micheal Keenan was a tower of strength all game controlling his defence with David McArdle giving nothing away. In goal Thomas Sheerin wasn't troubled much but in the last few minutes pulled of a fabulous save to deny Gweedore an equaliser great performance by all; a big thankthe you to the parents who travelled and gave great support, and last but not least a massive thank you to Gweedore for their great hospitality during and after the game .Bring on the final.
