U8's V Killylough & Monaghan United

U8's

Rovers U8 side travelled to Killylough on Saturday last to play against local sides Killylough & Monaghan United. The Carrick lads travelled with two teams and after various detours found the Killylough pitch. The boys were separated into two teams and a great day’s football was under way. The two sides represented the club with great honour, commitment, enthusiasm and most off all fun. All the players got loads of game time and all came away smiling. There was a couple of firsts on the day with Luke (The Rocket) McSharry & Jack (Fabby) Markey scoring a goal for the first time in a Rovers Jersey. In goals Fergal (Fingers) Delaney excelled and kept attack after attack at bay. In defence Killian (Killer) Henry and Danny (Donuts) McCluskey defended as if their lives depended upon it. The midfielders Jake (Quick Feet) Gaynor, Daragh (Hammer) Povall, Turlough (Twister) O’Hanlon & Connor (The Cat) Cassidy covered every blade of grass and chipped in with a few goals for good measure. Up front one of our new additions, Stephen O’Rourke hassled, harried and created opportunities for his new team mates. Other players on the day were Dylan (Livewire) McMahon, Niall (Noddy) Carolan, Niall (Nuts) O’Sullivan, Dara (Gloves) Maher, Aran (Quick) McCabe and Conor (CC) Capaldi.
