NECSL U15 V Parkvilla

Parkvilla 2-1 Carrick Rovers

It was a very entertaining game at Clarmount Park in Navan, despite difficult playing conditions. Carrick started brightly in the first ten minutes with Saul Carolan coming close but the slippery surface carried the ball over the end line. Parkvilla got on top and soon after went 1-0 up with their number 9 rounding the keeper and slotted the ball neatly home. Soon after the boys found themselves 2-0 down just before the break. After half-time Carrick started brightly playing good football with Dean Jones and Oisin McDonald grabbing a foothold on the game. After 5 minutes Carrick pressure paid off with Oisin McDonald winning a free-kick on the edge of the box and Paudie Kirk hitting a thunderbolt from 20 yards to give Carrick hope. Some great defending from Carrick in the second half kept Villa at bay for long periods.Carrick put pressure on Villa with Ferdia Holland and Fergal Winters being solid and some great balls being delivered from James Lambe and Cian Murray. Tiernan Marron was excellent when called upon as every player worked tirelessly to grab a equaliser but they couldn’t break down an well organised Villa defence and didn’t get the equaliser they deserved.
