NECSL U13 V Trim Celtic

Trim Celtic 2-7 Carrick Rovers

Carrick Rovers U13’s off to a flying start. Carrick opened well with a few well executed forays into the Trim half with an attacking pressure building up. Liam McGeough was sending some nice passes up the right wing to Kevin Lambe who sent in some deadly high crosses to David Garland and Derek Conlon. In the second minute David Garland had a powerful shot on goal blocked with Aaron Wilcox having the rebound also blocked. Trim ran at the Carrick defence with their left midfield player running up the wing to be stopped by a well executed sliding tackle by Conor Duffy. Derek Conlon had good moments of clever passing into overlapping Carrick players, this was Derek’s first game with us and he showed plenty of skill and determination. In the fifth minute Kevin Lambe sent in a perfectly measured pass to David Garland who side stepped the defence to get a well taken goal. Aaron Wilcox and David Garland played a cute one two for David just to shoot narrowly wide. Kevin Lambe was torturing Trim with his strong runs up his wing, he sent in a strong pass to Shane Garland whose clever shot was just saved. A good clearance by Ciaran Finnegan to Paul Beagan to David Garland who got his second goal. Trim were beginning to get organised in attack at this stage and put Carrick under pressure, however there was some good defending by Oisin Marron and some brave saves by Dylan Steele in goals. Oisin sent in a long range shot on goals, hit the cross bar and Kevin Lambe scored with a diving header. Trim came back at us and cut through our midfield and defence with a strong determined run and scored a goal. On 23th minute Shane Garland sent in a high corner into the box to meet the head of Conor Duffy who put the ball high into the back of the net. Carrick kept up the pressure and Oisin Marron sent in a though ball to Davy Garland who was in on goal but was just offside. Liam McGeough put the ball into the Trim net after a goal mouth scramble but had it disallowed for a narrow offside. Aaron Wilcox and Paul Beagan played well in midfield against very strong Trim attackers.

Half-time Trim Celtic 1-4 Carrick Rovers

Ben Kelly came on for Derek Conlon at start of second half. Trim got a 20yd free early in second half and Dylan Steele saved a well taken shot. Shane Garland scored from a 20 yd free with a rasper of a shot bounding off the cross bar onto the floor of the goals . A clever throw in by Kevin Lambe with a passing combination from David Garland to Paul Beagan ended in a shot just wide. Trim were getting dangerous and determined in their attacks and pressurised the back four of Liam McGeough, Conor Duffy, Ciaran Finnegan and Oisin Marron. Ben Kelly played well up front and won some good balls to build up an attack. Trim got a penalty in the 48thminute which was put away with a well taken shot to the roof of the Carrick goals. The Garland brothers got a goal each in the last 10 minutes.

The game ended with a 7-2 win for Carrick.

Overall a good team performance due to incorporating a clever passing style into their game and playing as a team supporting each other.
