Torro 1 Carrick Rovers 3

Carrick rovers U16’s have reached the last 32 of the national cup with a 3-1 win away to Torro.

The draw for the round of 32 sees Rovers play host to Dublin side St Josephs Boys on Saturday February 6th at 2pm.

The match against Torro started badly with Rovers conceding a goal early on from a shot that was going wide only to deflect off a Rovers player and into the corner.

The equaliser came after thirty minutes when Cillein Corcoran scored from 20yards  and just four minutes later Shane McDaniel struck to give Rovers a 2-1 lead at half time.

If the first half looked at times uncomfortable for Rovers, the second half was dominated entirely by them, although at times they looked frustrated at not actually being able to finish. The third goal however did finally arrive when Killian Clarke connected with a cross floated in from the left to head a goal that allowed the score line to more accurately reflect the game itself.
