Carrick Rovers (Div 2) 1-3 Trim Celtic (Div 2)
Carrick started the game at a ferocious pace not allowing Trim to settle on the ball. Carrick midfielders Sewell, Winters and Keyes dominated Trim and pushed forward into attack at every opportunity.
After 15 minutes Carrick won a free kick which Sewell curled into the Trim penalty area. The keeper dropped the ball and just recovered it before O'Rourke and Keyes reached the rebound. 5 minutes later another free from Sewell dipped over the Trim defence and was again saved by the keeper but this time the rebound fell to O'Rourke who calmly passed the ball into the net. Trim hit back winning several corners and almost scoring from one. Carrick attacked again with Keyes breaking through the centre winning a header against the 2 centre backs and racing in on goal only to have his touch hit against the keepers legs. Carrick thoroughly deserved the 1-0 lead at half time being the stronger team throughout the half.
Trim upped their game in the second half getting their passing game going. Winters and Keyes in midfield continued to break up Trims play with Keyes winning every header against bigger opponents, tackling back one minute and attacking down the left wing the next minute. After 15 minutes a Carrick attack broke down on the right and a huge Trim clearance down the middle of the pitch allowed Trim in for the equaliser. About 5 minutes later Trim took the lead with a similar goal. Apart from a couple of players, Carrick's energy levels dropped and Trim now dominated the game. A third goal 5 minutes from time finished the game off.
