Clones v. Carrick U16 Match Report

After the winter break the lads were eager to get back to winning way's, and they didn't disappoint, playing away to a strong Clones side who were 2nd in the league and going well. Carrick were without 7 of the normal travelling squad so it was down to the 4/5 first team players to step up to the mark and they did just that. It was a physical game and  was played in a wicked wind. It was all square at half time.  Luke Mcsharry had travelled with the squad due to short numbers and was called on early in the first half for the injured Kyle Maguire, and had a great game. The second half started, and Rovers pressed on  with capt Micheal Keenan outstanding again taking control of his defence.  Daragh O'Callaghan, Cameron Etherington, Harry Corscadden battled away in the middle while Ryan Marron and Darragh Alfred were always a threat. The winning goal arrived via  ball out wide from Cameron to Ryan sent him on his way. He then cut inside only to be fouled in the box, which he duly despatched from the resulting penalty. Thereafter Rovers played out the remaining time giving nothing away to leave the final score Clones 0, Carrick 1.
